Amy Fast - Amy works for the marketing/properties department at a professional sports organization.
She is primarily responsible for traveling to dog shows, training
the dogs for the ring and providing socialization for the dogs away
from the house.
LaRita Fast - LaRita is a stay-at-home-dog-mom who cares for the
crew 24/7. Taking care of the dogs is the perfect job for her. She
keeps the Weimies on a feeding, exercising, and socialization schedule
along with providing basic obedience training and grooming. LaRita's
other passion is raising Orchids and African Violets.
As a mother/daughter team, we've been showing Weimaraners
since 1990 , breeding since 1997 and have been members of the Weimaraner
Club of America since 1990. As members and the webmasters for the
Weimaraner
Club of America, and Weimaraner
Rescue, we are active in the breed club. We also attend all-breed
shows, specialty shows and the yearly Weimaraner Club of America
National Specialty when we can. Our dogs and breeding record speak
for themselves. We've produced champions and continue to consistently
compete successfully with dogs we've produced.
Breeder's Biography
We bought our first Weimaraner shortly after my (Amy's)
12th birthday. We narrowed it down to three different breeds, the
Weimaraner, the Rhodisian Ridgeback and the Basenji. We chose the
Weimaraner because of it's striking looks, intelligent temperament
and the fact that it could be more than an "ankle biter"
if someone broke into the house.

Libby |
We'd done some research on what hip radiographs were
and what makes a good pedigree. We bought books, a crate and tried
to make the transition as smoothly as possible for our newest family
member. We look back and laugh at what it was like to have
just one dog.
Our breeder had planted the seed of showing Libby
thought we weren't really sure how to go about it. We loved her
dearly and wanted to have puppies with her someday, like many people
do when they love their pet. We were determined to go about it the
“right” way though – get a championship, hip x-ray
and all that other stuff we learned about. Most of these dreams
started to dissolve when we discovered Libby's hips were almost
non-existent and the pain turned our cute puppy's temperament to
a dog who would bite. It was devastating when we had to have her
spayed. Libby lived to the ripe old age of 13 1/2 . Most of what
we've done with our Weimaraners is a tribute to her determination
to work around the physical and mental insufficiencies she had.
We always wished we could wave a magic wand and make her problems
disappear.
We joined the W.C.A. in 1990 at the encouragement
of another local breeder. At that point we decided we wanted a male
to show and looked through a few months worth of litter announcements
and magazines. We waited what seemed like forever for the right
puppy. We finally acquired Stuart who was out of one of the top-producing dog of all time, Ch.Valmar Smokey City Ultra
Easy. We got him a few days after Christmas in 1991.
After
showing Stuart for awhile, we decided we wanted a female dog…for
obvious reasons. We waited about two years to get the right female
for our breeding program from Tom Wilson and she was well worth
the wait. Sophie arrived the fall of my freshman year in college
and we had a great time showing her over the next two years. She
won several BOB awards and made the cut in sporting group at six
months old. Sophie would have made a great specials bitch but my
college and work took priority.

Nearly nine years after the original idea, we finally
had our first litter of puppies with Sophie in 1997. This litter
produced both of our BISS winners and Tommy who made it onto the
top 10 in 2000. When the babies were about 8 months old, we packed
up the whole crew and moved to 5 acres here in Colorado. We felt
a more centralized location would make traveling to shows easier
and more frequent.
The rest is history, so to speak…we're active
in showing, breed clubs and other Weimaraner related activities.
We attend 35-50 shows a year and usually breed 1-2 litters a year.
Our web site highlights what we've accomplished with showing and
breeding our dogs and our hopes for the future of this breed. Please
explore the indexes and read about our dogs and experiences.
