Crates
400
(L) Series Crate for Females or smaller Males
500 (XL) Series Crate for Males

Bowls: Stainless Steel - 2 Quart

Towels: Inexpensive terrycloth towels make excellent first bedding for the puppy. They are easy to wash if puppy has an accident and not a major loss if they chew on them. Good puppies can graduate to an acrylic blanket, they're $5-$10 at K-Mart or Wal-Mart. Foam bedding should be avoided.

Collar: Adjustable collar, ¾ inch wide 7-12 inches is a good size to start with.

Leash: Flexi-grip or a regular nylon leash, leather should wait until puppy is through the chewing stages.

Treats: We use Mother Hubbard Biscuits, chopped up boiled chicken or Wellness Bites.

Toys: No soft rubber. No tennis balls. No golf Balls. Bowel obstructions are not fun! Hard rubber kongs, solid rubber balls, nylabones, and rope toys are appropriate. While the puppy is still little, macaroni noodles or rice in an empty liter bottle provides good supervised entertainment. A laser pointer is also a fun toy.

Travel: Paper towels! Puppies can get carsick, especially on their first trip.

Bath time: Baby Shampoo works well. When puppy is older you can just use the baby shampoo on the head and other human shampoo on the rest of the dog. We found dog shampoo dries out the skin and may cause hives!

Flea & Tick: Farnam Nature's Answer Flea & Tick Spray. We do not have issues with these critters very often but found this product smells acceptable and does not cause skin problems. It also repels flies. If you have other pests in your area, you may want to ask your vet what would be appropriate.

Carpet Cleaner: Of your choosing…remember, extra paper towels for soaking things up! Piddle happens.

A few other miscellaneous thoughts (note, some of these will come with further instructions in our "what we do" packet): pooper scooper, waste disposal bucket (usually a gallon sized plastic pot w/removable plastic bag…nothing fancy necessary), sisal brush or rubber grooming mitt, HCl in case of foreign body ingestion, pepto or Imodium tablets, anbesol, mineral oil, guillotine style nail clippers.
